Fiqh Studies

Hanbali Fiqh: Manhaj As Salikeen (Taharah & Salaah) The first question that a person will be asked about on the day of judgment will be regarding his/her prayers. A Muslim should therefore be weary of falling into ignorance related to this very important pillar. Therefore this course will cover all the necessary issues related to prayer and its most important pre-requisite; purification. The course will be based on a basic manual in Fiqh, which is predominantly Hanbali in its approach authored by Shaykh Abdur-Rahman ibn Naasir as-Sa’adi. Hanafi Fiqh: Mukhtasar Al Quduri (Salaah) Authored by al ‘Allamah Abul Hasan Ahmad bin Muhammad al Quduri (428h), Mukhtasar al Quduri is considered to be a primer in Hanafi Fiqh as well as being very popular amongst scholars and students of knowledge. This course will focus on the Fiqh of prayer, covering all important aspects such as conditions, prayer description and recommended prayers etc. Qawaa'id Al Fiqhiyyah The Shari’ah has been legislated to bring benefit to mankind and to repel harm and evil. The Shari’ah has therefore been legislated for certain reasons of which many are known by the scholars as well as laymen. The scholars however, attempted to understand many of the intricate reasons behind many of the subsidiary rulings and thus extrapolate generic principles (Qawaa’id) which could be used in other circumstances to help determine juristic solutions. The benefit of learning about Qawaa’id Fiqhiyyah is that it truly enables one to depict the nature and essence of the Shari’ah and therefore helps one to evaluate & determine juristic answers that are in line with the philosophy of the religion. This course will be based on the Nadhm (Didactic Poem) entitled: Al Qawaa’id Al Fiqhiyyah by Shaykh Abdur-Rahman ibn Naasir as-Sa’adi and will cover issues related to: intentions, Maslahah & Mafsadah (benefit & harm), Daroorah (necessity) etc. Maliki and Shafi'i (Fiqh) These courses will take place in the future terms Inshaa Allah

Usool ath Thalaatha This course will cover a small treatise on the subject of Tawheed and Aqeedah called Usool ath Thalaatha (The Three Fundamentals) authored by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahaab (d.1206h). The course will focus on:
1. Knowledge of Allah by His names and attributes. 2. Knowledge of the Prophet (saw). 3. Knowledge of the religion.
These are the three things everyone will be questioned about in the grave, thus it is vital that every believer is well acquainted with the knowledge of these matters. Al Aqeedah at Tahawiyyah Written by Abu Ja’far at-Tahawi (d.321h), this text is considered as one of the acclaimed texts that clearly expounds the beliefs of Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah. The text itself has received a high level of acceptance throughout the centuries. Studied throughout the Muslim world and increasingly in the west, the Creed of Imam al-Tahawi serves as a sound basis for Islamic faith and is the most reliable of the early articulations of Muslim belief. This course is ideal for those who have studied Aqeedah courses offered by Tayyibun in the past as it is considered a high level text, it is not a prerequisite that one has to have studied other Aqeedah courses at the Institute in order to enrol for this course. Al Aqeedah al Hamawiyyah Written by Shaykh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rh), this text is considered to be a fundamental text that clarifies the position of Ahlus-Sunnah regarding the names & attributes of Allah (swt) and regarding speculative theology (‘ilm al Kalaam). This is an intermediate-higher level text which should be studied after one has studied the basics of Aqeedah. This course will be based on Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen’s commentary and summary of the text at hand.

How to Understand & Develop Akhlaaq (Good Character) The Prophet (saw) said: “I was only sent to perfect good akhlaaq”. For many, this might perplex them as they might assume that Akhlaaq only pertains to a certain aspect of our religion thus exposing their weakness in being able to understand the significance of Akhlaaq. Moreover, living in a society where there is an absence of high morality it is of paramount importance that we all understand the importance of Akhlaaq, its realities and how to achieve it. This course will cover all of those issues in addition to expounding upon the Akhlaaq of the Prophet (saw). The course will be based on the very beneficial treatise of Shaykh ibn ‘Uthaymeen. Fiqh Pertaining to Women Allah (swt) created the woman as the twin half of man, and thus each half have their own respective responsibilities and duties that compliment one another. The Muslimah has many rulings related to her which help to define her as a righteous individual. Thus this course will cover the most important of these specific rulings related to the Muslim woman such as: specific rulings in acts of worship, marriage, divorce, clothing and beautification, etc as well as discussing the status of women in Islam and how a Muslimah should preserve her chastity. This course will be based on the book: Tanbeehaat Ala Ahkaam Takhtassu bil Mu'minaat by Shaykh Saalih al Fawzan.
